In yesterday’s devotion, we learned that even though Jesus rebuked the disciples for displaying a lack of faith when they were afraid of the sudden storm which came upon them— to their credit, they DID call on Jesus to save them.
Peter would do the same thing on a separate occasion, when he stepped off the boat in faith, yet he took his eyes off Jesus.
We are told that “…when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” ( Matt 14:30-31)
Although they were afraid; although they had little faith and they doubted that Jesus was concerned for them— even still— they called on the name of the Lord.
Please understand that Jesus honors an honest and humble heart— Even though you are afraid of what has suddenly come upon you, call on the name of the Lord today, because “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” ( Romans 10:3 )
“They were at their wit’s end. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble and he brought them out of their distress.” – Psalm 107: 27-28
