There is an overwhelming call at this moment in time to “Pray For Our Nation.”
And yes, every one of God’s people should pray and pray fervently— yet at the same time we must understand something:
You can pray all you want, but if those prayers lack repentance, they won’t change a thing.
Prayers without repentance are powerless.
In the often quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14, God does not say, “If my people PRAY, then I will hear from Heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.”
He doesn’t command them to simply “pray.”
He says “…if my people will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways…”
Humble yourself.
Seek MY face.
Turn from your wicked ways.
God says that these things must accompany our prayers.
If you think about it, all of these are forms of repentance.
When you humble yourself and pray, you repent of your pride; you ask God for help.
When you seek Gods face, you repent of seeking solutions from Yourself and other sources.
When you turn from your wicked ways, you repent of your rebellion against God’s commands.
So Yes, pray— and at the same time, repent.
Then, and only then, will God hear from Heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land.
