My latest illustration was inspired by the Lenny Kravitz lyric “Let Love Rule” and Luke 19:12,14 where Jesus speaks a parable about himself:

“A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return…
But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’

When we reject Jesus Christ as King— we reject the love of God made manifest in the world.

As it is written: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” ( John 3:16 )

Refusal to let God’s love rule in our lives, in our homes, and in our society, leads to the love of “self.”

When this happens, you see what we have today— a culture that has become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. A people full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice because they thought it foolish to acknowledge God.

Proverbs 29:18 warns that a nation without God’s guidance is a nation without law and order; that without a vision of God, without His love, the people perish because they have cast off restraint and have gone their own way.

So, if we want to see our nation healed and restored— if we want to see compassion and mercy overtake the anger and unrest which have consumed our city streets, we must individually and collectively surrender control of our own lives and say— “Lord, not my will, but yours be done.”

There is no other way.

Surrender your life to Jesus Christ— Let Love Rule.
