I have heard many preachers say that the most important thing in this life is to have a ”personal relationship with Jesus Christ.”
However, the fact of the matter is this:
Every individual on earth has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ—
A good one, or a bad one.
One of intimacy, or one of enmity.
One of reconciliation, or one of separation.
What you and I should be concerned with, is the state of that relationship— because on the day that your life in time ends, your life in eternity begins— and the state of that relationship as it existed in time, will be the state in which it shall forever remain.
We are told in the book of 1 John:
”God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
So, if your relationship with Him is a distant one, turn to the Lord today in repentance and faith while the door is still open for reconciliation— Because when the last grain of sand falls in the hourglass which is your life in time, it will be too late.
”You cannot have Christ in eternity if you do not have him in time.” ~ C.H. Spurgeon
