More often than not, your anxiety is a manifestation of a lack of faith in God’s ability to supply all your needs.
Because He loves you, and doesn’t want you to worry, Jesus warns against such a mindset in Matthew chapter 6:
“…I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you— you of little faith?
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”
Whatever your concern— whether it be uncertainty about where your next meal will come from, your employment, keeping your business afloat, an illness, depression, marital issues, stress over a wayward child or caring for family members— God knows your trouble, and He also knows how to meet your need in every situation.
So, don’t turn to self-help books, psychics, talk shows or politicians for the answers— ALWAYS TURN TO GOD FIRST.
As George Muller once stated:
“Trusting the Lord for the supply of my temporal needs keeps me from anxious thoughts like: ‘Will my salary last and will I have enough for the next month?’ In this freedom I am able to say: ‘My Lord is not limited. He knows my present situation, and He can supply all I need’. Rather than causing anxiety, living by faith in God alone keeps my heart in perfect peace”.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and His righteousness, and He will give you everything you need.” ~ Matthew 6:13
