This morning, as I sat contemplating the path of Hurricane Irma and the devastation already left in its wake, The Lord brought this to the forefront of my mind:

“The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain,
and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.
Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.”

In faith and obedience, I pray that The God of the universe – the one who creates the winds and the waves; the one who enclosed the sea with doors and placed boundaries on it – who set a bolt and doors, and said, ‘Thus far you shall come, but no farther; And here shall your proud waves stop!  – I pray that as that tempest rages, He will demonstrate His control over all things, and say:

“Peace! Be Still!”

I pray that as Irma reaches the apex of her power, with but a whisper from The Lord Our God, she will be stopped dead in her tracks – simply ceasing to exist.

I pray that He will confound the wise – that the minds of men and women will have no response – that no meteorologist may explain it away – that all the world will have no other choice but to say:

The Lord He is God!

The Lord He is God!

The Lord He is God!

Charles Spurgeon once said: “Prayer moves the arm that moves the world.”

Join with me in prayers of faith, and do not doubt that Our Lord will hear our cry and act – Not because we deserve His mercy, but that God alone will be glorified in this hour of our desperation!

Will God do this?

I don’t know.

Can God do this? Is He able?

YES!

So, let us pray our requests in faith and be content with God’s response.

May God’s will be done!

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
